"Hello, my name is Zachary Schott, I am a West Virginia native, born and raised in the Bridgeport area. I am the founder of Bridgeport Wellness Center and a full-time Nurse Practitioner at the office.

I established this office based on my own personal experience with healthcare in our area. To be quite frank, I was a full-time employee for a well-established large healthcare company and I was forced to see a high volume case load of patients, micromanaged into hitting RVUs and hitting financial goals for the company... I was not given the opportunity to go above and beyond for patients, get to know them on a personal level, or provide high-quality individualized care. There's only so much you can do in a 15-20 minute appointment time. 

Not only were my patients affected, but I was too. I was hitting burn out with my job, working 50+ hours a week to complete documentation requirements for insurance companies.

I also fell victim to poor insurance coverage...

My premium was over 100 dollars per pay check, with a deductible over 2,000 dollars. I quickly found out I was throwing money out the window by using insurance for diagnostics and medications because I have never hit the yearly deductible. I was paying a HIGH premium for LOW benefits. Although I would never advise someone to go without insurance, I can say that in some instances it makes sense to save it for emergency care only and pay cash for every day care.

As an educated healthcare provider who knows the cost of healthcare and what is valuable in healthcare, I decided there has to be a better, more affordable way to receive healthcare in our state and that is how our practice was established."
