Let’s clear some things up on male hormone replacement therapy

1. Traditional medicine doesn’t always recognize preventative treatments or see non- life threatening complaints at “medically necessary” and does not always want to treat these complaints

2. Wanting to have normal energy levels, a healthy amount of fat tissue, and wanting to have sex is normal.

3. Is it high risk? Sometimes… I’d argue to say no not on a direct primary care model of care. My hormone patients have my phone number, they know where to find me… they’re educated on red flag signs and symptoms. In fact, I even check in with them first via text or email to make sure they’re doing ok and don’t have further questions.

4. “Your testosterone level is normal you don’t need treatment” i treat the symptoms not the labs. Not everyone is the same… I monitor levels closely enough to know patients aren’t abusing the medications and will taper dosing down if it starts to appear that way. However the “normal range” is so wide because everyone is different. 500 total testosterone may be normal for one and not for another…

5. There are serious adverse effects and risks: stroke, clots, DVT, heart attack, high blood pressure, heart disease, prostate cancer. Patients are educated on these things at my office… they get to decide if the benefit outweighs the risks…. I will advise to practice caution with online testosterone clinics… the ones looking for dollar signs and don’t necessarily care how you’re doing, how your blood pressure looks, how often you’re getting labs etc. it’s extremely difficult and rare for one of my patients to go unmonitored or be “forgotten about” being that I will have a max of 250 patients. And have them all in spread sheets. Lol… message me questions!

Corrie is our botox pride and joy of the week !!! Look at this transformation! I think my jaw literally dropped when she sent me this….She is a newbee to tox (welcome to the dark side, we don’t have wrinkles here) and her biggest concerns were prevention and helping contour her jawline. She had heard of masseter tox and wanted to try that out primarily for facial contouring and slimming. She is a healthy weight and the shape of her jawline was due to masseter muscle overuse (likely clinching her teeth or grinding teeth in sleep, super common actually) So we did 20 units each side into the masseters for contouring/sliming and then upper face tox for preventing deep set lines/wrinkles which will help keep her tox dose lower - longer and is more prevention focused vs reaction focused (one of my favorite healthcare models, wink wink see primary care). As the final finishes are coming together, I’ve decided to rent out one of the “extra” offices/exam rooms we have! This is a great location with an even more amazing group of established clients/patients… ideally, I’d like to find a licensed social worker or therapist with the same mindset as me - we are definitely in a mental health crisis with a shortage of providers - Depression isn’t predictable. Crisis isn’t predictable. PTSD isn’t predictable. imagine, the patient pays a low monthly fee (less than insurance charge) and can see you for therapy when they actually need it! They can reach you directly when they need help. I can say from personal past experience, there is a wait list for new patients seeking therapy… that’s not how mental health works. I’d love to be a part of fixing this issue and giving someone the opportunity to establish their own business and patients! I will consider other medical or wellness specialties on a case by case basis - however I am being somewhat selective and would prioritize someone who wants to make a difference. If this sounds like you or someone you know have them send us a message 🙂 (due to pre-negotiated contracts, the person would need to be self- pay/cash pay oriented)

Hi 👋 please allow me to introduce myself - my name is Zach,
I am a Nurse Practitioner and founder of Bridgeport Wellness Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia. I consider myself a West Virginia native, as I was raised in Taylor County, West Virginia since I was 7 years old and have spent most of my life here. I graduated from Grafton High School in 2012 and proudly attended Fairmont State University for my nursing education. When I returned to school for my Masters, I left the state briefly for 2 years in order to graduate with my Master’s in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I eagerly returned to the mountain state shortly after graduation… You know what they say, Once a Mountaineer, Always a Mountaineer

Not only am I a healthcare provider, I am also a healthcare consumer. I, too, have become frustrated with our broken healthcare system and have even thought to myself, “Wow, my doctor spends more time typing on the computer during my appointment than he does listening to my concerns.”

My goal in opening my own primary care practice is to provide greater access to healthcare at a more affordable cost. I believe in an alternative model called Direct Primary Care, which allows providers to spend as much time as necessary with their patients, allows patients to feel heard and listened to, and eliminates many of the common frustrations that our traditional healthcare delivery model causes.
